In an ongoing design, the architect needs to iterate (repeatedly go over cyclically or spirally, to put it in simple words). As per John Zeisel’s book “Inquiry by design” Each iteration itself has 3 parts: Conceptualize, Create and Criticize.
You see those 3 parts even in other areas where there is a spiral mode of development of a creation. For example; in Software Development – it would be (loosely) correspond to SRS (Specifying the product), Coding (Creating the product) and testing (Criticize)
This category would delve into questions such as
- How to ensure that data is not overloaded, so that iterations are possible?
- What kind of issues makes an architect actually invoke an iteration?
- What methods and tools can we use for criticism?
- How to involve other stakeholders to participate in the design iterations?
